Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- Whisk 2 cups sugar, cocoa, and flour together in a saucepan. Blend in evaporated milk and vanilla.
- Beat egg yolks and stir into chocolate filling.
- Add butter and heat, stirring constantly, until butter is just melted.
- Pour filling into unbaked pie shell.
- Bake in the preheated oven until pie is just set, about 35 to 40 minutes.
- Beat egg whites in a glass, metal, or ceramic bowl until foamy. Gradually add sugar, continuing to beat until stiff peaks form.
- Spread meringue over pie filling, covering completely.
- Return pie to oven and bake until meringue is lightly browned and golden, about 8 to 10 minutes.
