- •1 teaspoon vegetable oil
- •1 pound kielbasa sausage, cut into 1 inch pieces
- •1 medium onion, chopped
- •5 cups chicken broth
- •2 (27 ounce) cans turnip greens, drained
- •2 (14.5 ounce) cans great northern beans, rinsed and drained
- •1 package vegetable soup mix (such as Knorr's®)
- •1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce (such as Tabasco®)
- •1 teaspoon garlic powder
- •1 pinch Creole seasoning (such as Tony Chachere's®), or to taste
- •salt and ground black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add kielbasa and onion; cook and stir until kielbasa is browned and onion is translucent, 5 to 7 minutes. Remove to a plate.
- Add broth, turnip greens, beans, soup mix, hot pepper sauce, garlic powder, Creole seasoning, salt, and pepper to the saucepan; bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Return kielbasa and onion mixture to the saucepan. Reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for 2 hours.
