  • 2 carrots, finely chopped
  • 0.25 cup chopped onion
  • 0.25 cup chopped green bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 0.75 cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • salt and ground black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add beef, carrots, onion, bell pepper, and garlic; cook and stir until beef is browned and crumbly, about 10 minutes. Drain off liquids.
  • Mix in ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard until thoroughly combined. Reduce the heat to low and simmer until sauce has thickened, about 30 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
