  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 3 tablespoons boiling water
  • 0.75 cup white sugar
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 0.125 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups fresh blackberries, rinsed and drained
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  • Make the pastry dough: Sift flour, baking powder, and salt into a bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry cutter. Add boiling water to the flour mixture. Stir until mixture comes together in a ball. Divide dough in half and roll out two crusts. Place the bottom crust into a 9-inch pie pan.
  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • Prepare the filling: Combine sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Mix with berries. Place berry filling in the unbaked pie crust. Sprinkle with lemon juice and dot with butter.
  • Fit and seal the upper crust.
  • Bake on the lower shelf in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes.
