Penne Pasta Open Sandwich

  • 2 ½ cups penne pasta
  • 2 cups tomato sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • ½ lb mushroom, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1 ½ teaspoons dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried bay leaf
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • salt
  • pepper
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
  • butter
  • baguette

Instructions

  • Boil water with oil and salt. Add pasta and cook according to package instructions. Once done, set aside.
  • In a medium saute pan, thoroughly cook the ground beef. Once cooked, add onions and cook until translucent.
  • To the pan, add garlic and mushrooms and stir until mushrooms soften. Once softened, add tomato sauce and dried herb seasonings.
  • Once simmering, add garlic powder and grated Parmesan. Season with salt and pepper.
  • Slice bread, evenly spread with butter and toast well in a skillet. Once done, mix pasta with prepared sauce and top bread slices with pasta mixture.
  • Sprinkle with fresh shredded Parmesan cheese to taste, broil lightly, and serve.
