  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 potatoes, cubed
  • 2 cups water, or as needed
  • 2 cups tomato puree
  • 1 (15 ounce) can kidney beans
  • 2.5 tablespoons chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  • Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Sauté beef and onion in the hot pan until onion is almost tender, about 5 minutes. Drain excess grease.
  • Stir in potatoes, water, tomato purée, beans, chili powder, and salt; bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low and simmer until potatoes are tender, about 30 minutes. Add more water if a thinner chili is desired.
