  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 0.33333334326744 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups fresh blackberries
  • 2 cups boiling water

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  • Beat together 1 cup sugar and softened butter in a large bowl with an electric mixer until light and fluffy. Mix in flour mixture alternately with milk until no large lumps remain. Pour into a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  • Arrange blackberries over batter; sprinkle with remaining 1 cup sugar. Pour boiling water over the top.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until batter has firmed and berries are soft, about 50 minutes.
